DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. | Alabama State ran its winning streak to 12 with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-15, 25-17) victory over Alcorn State in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) action at the Cluster on Sunday afternoon inside Moore Gymnasium.

Alabama State (13-12, 12-0 SWAC) was led by
Jylen Whitten with 13 kills, while
A'Nylah Cobb finished with eight.
Emily Brooks led the Lady Hornets with 18 assists with
Madison Beasley adding 14, while
Temperance Chatman led the way defensively with 15 dogs.

How It Happened
SET 1 | After Alcorn State closed the gap to 8-5 in the opening set, Alabama State went on a 5-0 run to open the set up using kills from Whitten and
Kaylen Hines. The lead grew to as many as 11 midway through the set at 17-6 on a kill from Cobb before Alcorn State closed the gap to seven at 17-10. The Lady Hornets went on to close the set with the final three points for the 1-0 overall lead.

SET 2 | In the second set, Alabama State led 9-7 before a 5-1 run pushed the lead 14-8 using a service ace from
Brooke Adams and a kill from
Logan Horne to push the lead to six. An 8-2 run late in the set by the Lady Hornets pushed the lead to 22-13 before three straight kills from Whitten closed out the set.

SET 3 | Alcorn State jumped out to an 8-7 lead to start the set before Alabama State roared back with a 5-0 run to take a 12-8 lead behind kills from
Taila Gaines and Cobb, to go along with a service ace from Chatman. Alcorn State answered with a 4-0 run of its own a little later in the set to tie it at 15-all before an Alabama State timeout. Following the timeout, Alabama State used a kill from
Jada Rhodes and a pair of Alcorn State errors to grab the lead and extend it to 18-15. From there the Lady Hornets were able to pull away and wrap up the match.
