MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State opens the 2023-24 indoor track and field season on Friday at the Birmingham Crossplex in the annual BSC Panther Icebreaker.

The meet, the first of four regular season indoor meets for the Hornets, begins at 8:30 a.m. on the track with the women's 60-meter hurdles preliminary round. The running events will continue through 4 p.m. with the start of the 800-meters, followed by the 200-meters, distance medley relay, and 1600-meter relay.
The field events begin at 9 a.m. with the men's and women's shot put, followed by the weight throw, and long jump events. The field events will continue through 2 p.m. with the high jump events concluding the day.
The meet will feature Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Alabama-Huntsville, Belhaven, Berry, Bethune-Cookman, Cahaba Distance Project, Chrsitian Brothers, Clayton State, East Texas Baptist, Emory, Erskine, Georgia State. Huntingdon, Jacksonville State, Lee, Maryville, Memphis, Miles, Millsaps, Mississippi College, Mobile, Montevallo, Morehouse, Oglethorpe, Rhodes, Run-Netics, Samford, Shorter, St. Thomas, Trinity, Troy, Tulane, UAB, UNAT-Morehouse, West Georgia, and William Carey.
Following this meet, the Hornets will be off until Jan. 12 when they travel to Kentucky for the annual Rod McCravey Invitational, followed by a second meet in Birmingham – the Samford Open – on Jan 29. The regular season concludes on Feb. 2 at the South Carolina Invitational before the SWAC Championships return to the Crossplex on Feb. 17.
