BATON ROUGE, La. | TJ Madlock led three Alabama State players in double figures but it wasn't enough to overcome a second-half surge by LSU, falling 74-56 at the Maravich Assembly Center on Wednesday night.

Madlock scored 18 points, hitting 7-of-16 shots from the floor including three three-pointers. He also finished with seven rebounds.
Isaiah Range added 15 points and three assists, while
CJ Hines added 13 points and three assists.

Ubong Okon led Alabama State (4-5) with 14 rebounds.

LSU (6-4) outscored Alabama State 44-22 in the second half behind four players in double figures led by Mike Williams II with 15 points (13 of those in the second half). Jalen Reed added 13 points and seven rebounds while Jordan Wright added 13.

Trae Hannibal scored 11 points off the bench for LSU.

How It Happened
- Alabama State used an 8-0 run to close the first half and take a 34-30 lead over the Tigers despite shooting just three free throws to 13 for LSU.
- LSU went on a pair of runs to take the lead in the second half and pull away, beginning with a 13-0 run early to take the lead. They also added a 7-0 run to take their biggest lead of the night with 2:30 to play.
- The Tigers finished the night shooting 65.2 (15-of-23) percent from the free throw line compared to 37.5 (3-of-8) percent for Alabama State.
- Alabama State outscored LSU in second chance points (15-9) while being held to just 11 fast break points.
- Madlock and Hines each scored in double figures for the eighth time this season, while Range scored in double figures for the fourth time in five games.
- Alabama State shot 36.1 (22-of-61) percent from the floor and 34.6 (9-of-26) percent from beyond the arc, while LSU shot 52.1 (25-of-48) percent from the floor and 39.1 (9-of-23) percent from beyond the arc.
Alabama State Notes
- Alabama State forced more turnovers yet again this season, forcing 14 LSU turnovers compared to just 13 committed.
- Okon started his first career game, playing 31 minutes in the loss.
- The sophomore center posted double-digit rebounds for the second time this season, topping his previous mark of 10.
- The eight free throws attempted by the Hornets were the least amount shot this season from the charity stripe.
