TROY, Ala. – Troy University used a five-run sixth to break open a close game and grab an 8-2 win over the Alabama State University baseball team on Tuesday at the Riddle-Pace Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Troy took advantage of a two-out error to take a 1-0 lead on an RBI single by Tremayne Cobb in the bottom of the first.
- Jack Hay doubled followed by two walks to load the bases in the top of the second only to have Troy starter Ben Thompson record a strikeout to end the threat.
- Caleb Bartolero hit a two-run home run to put the Trojans up 3-0 in the bottom of the third.
- Corey King singled home Kyle Kuramoto in the fourth to cut the deficit to 3-1.
- The Trojans scored five times to build an 8-1 lead heading into the top of the seventh.
- Kyler McIntosh doubled and scored on an Ian Matos single to center to trim the Troy lead to 8-2 in the top of the seventh.
- William Sullivan hit a two-run home run to extend the lead to 10-2.
ON THE MOUND
- Marcos De Valle (0-1) yielded three runs on three hits with two strikeouts and two walks as the pitcher of record for the Hornets.
- Ricardo Rivera worked 2.0 scoreless innings with five strikeouts in relief for ASU.
- Alabama State pitching combined for nine strikeouts on the night.
- Troy starter Ben Thompson worked 3.0 innings, allowing a run on three hits with five strikeouts and five walks to earn the win.

- McIntosh went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored to lead the Hornets at the plate.
- Jack Hay had a double while Ian Matos had an RBI single.
