NEW ORLEANS, La. | Alabama State University baseball suffered and 18-7 set back to host the University of New Orleans on the final day of the Annual Andre Dawson Classic on Sunday.
Alabama State finished the weekend with a 2-1 record and will come home to host Georgia State on Tuesday at 5 p.m. at the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Tyler Bischke doubled and scored on a double steal to give the Privateers a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
- The Hornets loaded the bases and plated three runs to take a 3-1 lead.
- Ian Matos scored when Jayden Sloan popped out the catcher followed by an RBI double by. Jamal George doubled and a Randy Flores sac-fly.
- Kyler McIntosh belted a home run to left field to extend the lead to 4-1 in the fourth.
- Mitchell Sanford hit a three-run home run to put the Privateers ahead 6-5 in the bottom of the fifth.
- George and McIntosh scored on a Randy Flores single to put the Hornets back in front 7-6 in the sixth.
- New Orleans got a Miguel Uesche three-run home run and a Jorge Tejeda grand slam to take a 14-7 lead heading to the top of the seventh.
- Jessy De Le Cruz hit a grand slam in the bottom of the seventh to end the game.
ON THE MOUND
- Colton Mercer (2-0) was the winning pitcher for UNO, giving up two runs on three hits.
- Ali Lepread (0-1) allowed a run on one hit to get saddled with the loss for the Hornets,
