MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State University hit four home runs en route to a 14-4 win over Bethune-Cookman in game one of a three-game series on Friday night at the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED  
  • The Wildcats plated a run on a wild pitch to take a 1-0 lead in the top of the first.  
  • Jamal George homered with Jaydon Sloan on with a walk and Randy Flores followed with an RBI single to put the Hornets in front 3-1 in the second.  
  • Jack Hay's two-run homer in the third extended the Hornets' lead to 5-1. 
  • Alabama State pushed the lead to 7-1 in the fourth. George worked a leadoff walk and scored on a wild pitch and Kyle Kuramoto had a bunt single and scored on a Kyler McIntosh sacrifice fly. 
  • Cristian Lopez got hit by a pitch and scored on a George two-out double to make the score 8-1 in the fifth.  
  • Robert Moya hit a three-run home run to trim ASU's lead to 8-4 in the sixth inning. 
  • Kuramoto singled and Flores walked to set up a McIntosh three-run home run to give the Hornets an 11-4 lead. 
  • The Hornets plated six runs in the eighth to end the game via the NCAA mercy rule. McIntosh hit a three-run home run followed by an RBI double from Hay and a two-run homer by Corey King
ON THE MOUND  
  • Omar Melendez (7-0) recorded 10 strikeouts over 8.0 innings pitched while yielding four runs on six hits to earn the win. 
  • Nolan Santos (4-2) worked 5.0 innings, allowing eight runs on eight hits with five walks and four strikeouts to take the loss for the Wildcats. 
INSIDE THE BOX  
  • Melendez tossed his fourth complete game of the season.  
  • Kuramoto was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and a double.  
  • McIntosh led the Hornets with four RBI, including his fourth home run of the year.  
  • Matos went 2-for-2 with a pair of singles.  
  • King notched his sixth home run of the season with two RBI
  • George finished 2-for-3 with three RBI, a home run, and a double.
