Hornets Sweep Series From AAMU on Senior Day

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Trent Jamison and Randy Flores drove in three runs each to lead Alabama State University baseball to a 10-3 win over Alabama A&M on Senior Day at the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex on Sunday. 

The Hornets honored seniors Corey King, Ian Matos, Osvaldo Mendez, Trent Jamison and Ricardo Rivera in a pregame ceremony.  

The Hornets swept the three-game series and secure the SWAC East Division title for the second straight year.

HOW IT HAPPENED  
  • Randy Flores led off the game with a solo home run to right field to give the Hornets a 1-0 lead.  
  • Jamal George singled and scored on a Flores sacrifice fly for a 2-0 lead after three innings.  
  • Alabama A&M tied the game 2-2 on a Mekhi Lloyd two run single in the top of the fifth.  
  • Trent Jamison doubled home Cristian Lopez and later scored on a Flores sacrifice fly as the Hornets regained a 4-2 lead.  
  • The lead moved to 7-2 in the sixth on a Lopez sacrifice fly and a Jamison two-run single.  
  • Alabama State added three runs in the bottom of the eighth to make the score 10-2. The first run scored on a King had an RBI single followed a run scoring on a fielding error and a George sacrifice fly.  
  • Alabama A&M scored unearned in the ninth to make the final score 10-3. 
ON THE MOUND 
  • Shadai Colon (4-0) struck out eight while allowing two runs on a trio of hits to earn the win. 
  • Noah White (2-5) gave up six runs on five hits with two walks to suffer the loss. 
  • Sebatian Colon worked the final 2.2 innings, allowing one unearned run on three hits with a strikoout. 
INSIDE THE BOX 
  • Flores drove in three runs on a home run and two sacrifice flies.  
  • Jamison was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI. 
  • Lapread had two hits and Lopez had two RBI.  
UP NEXT: Alabama State host Presbyterian College on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
