MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State hits the road for non-action on Sunday afternoon, facing Mercer in Macon (Ga.). The match is slated to start at 2 p.m. (ET)/1 p.m. (CT) and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
 
Alabama State (0-2-1) is looking for its win of the season after falling to UAB in the home opener on Thursday night. The Lady Hornets have scored three goals on the season, all by different players, in their three matches including goals by Kassandra Schoen, Kensley Simmons, and most recently Camila Jimenez.
 
Meanwhile, Mercer (1-0-2) enters the match following a 1-1 draw with Georgia State. The Bears have faced one school from the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) this season in Mississippi Valley State, coming away with a 4-0 victory.

• Lauryn Starwood recorded 11 saves in the loss to UAB on Thursday night, breaking her season-high of nine she set against Jacksonville in the season-opener.
• Jimenez, who missed the 2022 season due to injury, returned to form on Thursday night with her first goal of the season – a penalty kick to get the Lady Hornets on the board. She leads the team with three points after recording an assist earlier.
• Four different players have scored points for Alabama State through the first three matches this season including Madison Chambers who has an assist.
• Starwood and Chase Lewis each were awarded conference honors this week with Starwood earning the Goalkeeper of the Week, and Lewis the Defender of the Week.

Mercer Notes

• Mercer has tied a pair of matches this season including a scoreless draw in its regular season opener against Evansville. They also tied Auburn in an exhibition match, another scoreless draw – back on August 9.
• Lindsay Bell has played all three matches in goal for the Bears, allowing just one goal and saving eight shots.
• Kendall Cook and Lana Whitfield lead the team with three points each, with each scoring a goal and adding an assist. Meanwhile, Anna Bachman has added a pair of assists.

Series History

• The meet will be the fourth all-time between the two schools with Mercer holding a 3-0 advantage. The Bears won the last meeting 4-3 back on September 22, 2019.
• This will be the second time the two teams have met in Macon.
