MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State picked up its first win of the season, shutting out Talladega 4-0 at the ASU Soccer Complex on Thursday night.
 
Alabama State (1-3-1) and Talladega were scoreless until early in the second half when the Lady Hornets scored the first match of the goal and never looked back. The Lady Hornets outshot Talladega 40-4 including 23 shots in the second half alone, while also taking six corners.
 
Lauryn Starwood recorded three saves in her first shutout as a Lady Hornet.

• 51:22 – Grace Norbury took a pass from Camila Jimenez for the lead, 1-0 Alabama State
• 69:47 – Kensley Simmons took advantage of another Jimenez assist, 2-0 Alabama State
• 71:54 – Iliana Casiano scored her first goal from outside the 18 to extend the lead, 3-0 Alabama State
• 88:32 – Kassandra Schoen scored on a diving header on an assist from Madison Chambers, 4-0 Alabama State
