Starwood named SWAC Goalkeeper of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Alabama State junior goalkeeper Lauryn Starwood was named the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Goalkeeper of the Week for her performance against Jacksonville State, announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon.
 
Starwood recorded 10 saves in the 1-0 loss to the Gamecocks last Thursday, recording double-digit saves for the fifth time this season. She has also recorded nine saves in one other contest, giving her six matches of nine or more saves on the season.
 
She is currently leading the conference, and second in the nation, in saves per game (9.38) and total saves (75). She also leads the conference in minutes played for goalkeepers.

Alabama State opens conference play on the road next Friday, Sept. 29, before facing UAPB on the road Sunday, Oct. 1, to close out the conference-opening weekend.
