BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Alabama State dropped its first match of the 2024 campaign to Samford on the road Saturday, falling 5-2 in non-conference action.
Alabama State (0-1) picked up a singles victory at No. 3 where
Sahra Bouchaala defeated Ally Hayduk in three sets 6-4, 2-6, 6-3. They forced three other matches into three sets including at numbers four, five, and six, while the match at number two featuring
Madalena Andrade was decided in a second-set tiebreaker.
The Lady Hornets picked up the doubles point with wins at number one and three. The team of
Lizaveta Demchenko and
Ena Arnautovic picked up a 7-6 win at No. 1, while the team of
Carmelle Vial and Andrade picked up a win at No. 2.
