MONTGOMERY, Ala. -Alabama State University volleyball team racked up 10 blocks in a three-set (17-25, 24-26, 27-29) loss to the Jackson State University on Friday at Lockhart Gymnasium.
The loss dropped Alabama State's record to 5-13 overall and 2-3 in SWAC action.
Essence Jones finished with 15 kills on the day to lead the Lady Hornets offense while finishing with a hitting percentage of .273. got 7 digs from Breanna Swanson along with six blocks from Kaylen Hines to lead them defensively.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Lady Hornets found themselves in an early hole, losing a tough first set 25-17. Alabama State trailed by as many as eight points as Jackson State grabbed the advantage for good at 9-8 in a set that was tied up four times before the Lady Tigers took control.
SET 2 | Alabama State fell in the second set 26-24, digging a 2-0 deficit in the match. The Lady Hornets fell in a close second set, losing in a stanza that was tied three times and had two lead changes.
SET 3 | Alabama State couldn't prolong the match and lost in set number three. The Lady Hornets fought back from a nine-point hole at 15-6, but Jackson State held on to win the set 29-27.
