MONTGOMERY, Ala.  --The Alabama State volleyball team walked away with a 3-0 sweep (27-25, 25-21, 25-19) over the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devilettes Sunday at Lockhart Gymnasium.

The win improved the Lady Hornets' record to 6-13 overall and 3-3 in SWAC play.

Kaylen Hines finished with nine kills on the day to lead the Lady Hornets' attack while finishing with a hitting percentage of .368. got nine digs from Sierra Scanlan to lead them defensively.

How It Happened

SET 1 | The Lady Hornets came out on top of a tight first set, winning 27-25 in a stanza that was tied nine times and had four lead changes.

SET 2 | After their win in the first set, Alabama State put themselves on the cusp of a sweep with a 25-21 victory in set number two. The Lady Hornets survived a back-and-forth set to win in a stanza that featured five lead changes and was tied 10 times. Neither team led by more than four points along the way.

SET 3 | Alabama State won the match in set number three. The Lady Hornets took the set 25-19. Alabama State took the lead for good at 18-17 in a set that showcased three lead changes before the Lady Hornets took over in the second half of the stanza. The Lady Hornets racked up 17 kills throughout the set. The Alabama State offense also got a boost from three aces in the stanza.
