ORLANDO, Fla. | Alabama State University bowling went 2-1 on the final day Destination Florida Invitational on Sunday.

Alabama State finished 11
th in the team standings, placing ahead of six ranked teams in the 24-team field.

"The team really came through great this weekend," said Head Coach
Andrew Chatmon. "Everybody pulled together and we performed exceptionally well and had a really good weekend with some wins over nationally ranked wins."

The Lady Hornets opened with a win over Monmouth to close out group play and then earned a win over UAB before dropping a tight match to No.4 North Carolina A&T.

Overall the Hornets went 7-6 win, including four wins over teams that are nationally ranked or received votes in the poll.

Savanna Razor had 1,138 pin falls with a 227.5 average to place eighth, while freshmanÂ
Olivia Miller finished 42nd in a field of around 200. Miller had 956 total pins with a 191.2 average.

Payton Hartgrove had 883 pins and a 176.6 average to place 61st, whileÂ
Lyric O'Steen had 800 pinfalls and a 160.0 average.

Alabama State will face Monmouth on Sunday before heading into bracket play to close the weekend.

Alabama State returns to action on Oct. 24-27 at the Southern Queens Invitational.
