OXFORD, Miss. | The Alabama State women's basketball team fell 89-24 to Ole Miss at the Pavalion on Saturday.
O'Mariyah Tucker led the Hornets (2-5) with six points and three blocks. Kaitlyn Bryant also added seven points and two steals from the bench and Cordasia Harris helped out with two points.
Alabama State forced 15 Ole Miss turnovers. The Hornets turned those takeaways into two points on the other end of the floor. Kristian Jackson led the way individually with two steals.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Alabama State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 24-4 at the end of the first quarter.
The Hornets continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 57-10 halftime deficit.
Alabama State's deficit continued to grow after halftime, and the Hornets faced a 75-22 disadvantage heading to the fourth quarter. Alabama State's bench made the most of its minutes in the period, as non-starters totaled seven of the team's 12 third-quarter points.
Alabama State could not pull any closer in the fourth, losing by a final of 89-24. Alabama State got a boost from its bench in the period, with non-starters scoring two of its two total points.
