STILLWATER, Okla. |Justina Graham and Cordasia Harris combined to score 31 total points - 63.3 percent of Alabama State's points - but the Hornets fell to the Oklahoma State Cowgirls 125-49 on Friday.
Graham led the Hornets (2-6) with 19 points and six rebounds. Harris added 12 points, six rebounds and two blocks and Taylor Smith helped out with six points off of the bench.
Led by Ashley Gray's three offensive rebounds, Alabama State did a great job crashing the offensive glass, pulling down 10 boards that resulted in nine second chance points.
Alabama State did a great job disrupting Oklahoma State shots in the contest, coming away with five blocks. Harris' two rejections led the way individually for the Hornets.
How It Happened
Alabama State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 36-15 at the end of the first quarter.
The Hornets continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 69-26 halftime deficit.
Alabama State's deficit continued to grow after halftime, and the Hornets faced a 104-33 disadvantage heading to the fourth quarter. Alabama State played well near the basket, scoring four of its seven points in the paint.
Oklahoma State kept widening its lead in the fourth, constructing a 109-35 advantage before Alabama State went on a 7-0 run to shrink the deficit to 109-42 with 5:28 to go in the contest. Oklahoma State responded and outscored the Hornets the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 125-49. Alabama State took advantage of six Oklahoma State turnovers in the quarter, scoring seven points off of those takeaways.
