UNCASVILLE, Conn. --The Alabama State men's basketball team pieced together a comeback late in Friday's game, outscoring Delaware State 17-9 in the final five minutes, but ultimately came up short, falling 83-80.
The Hornets (4-8) had three players score in double figures, led by CJ Hines, who had 25 points, six rebounds, and two steals. Amarr Knox tacked on 21 points and three steals and Micah Simpson helped out with 10 points off the bench.
The ASU offense made hay from downtown, pouring in 11 threes on 32 attempts. Knox hit three treys for the Hornets in the contest.
How It Happened
After falling behind 18-10, ASU went on a 12-0 run with 10:26 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Simpson, to take a 22-18 lead. The Hornets then surrendered that lead and entered halftime down 40-34.
ASU narrowed its deficit in the second half, but could not get over the hump, losing 83-80. ASU took care of business in the paint, recording 28 of its 46 points in the lane.
