Lady Hornets fall at Bethune-Cookman

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. | The Alabama State women's basketball team kept Bethune-Cookman to just 18.2 percent from deep in a 2-for-11 shooting performance, but fell 84-43 to the Wildcats on the road Monday.

Cordasia Harris led the Hornets (3-23, 3-12) with nine points, six rebounds and two blocks. Talayah Hamilton added eight points and two steals from the bench and Whitney Dunn helped out with nine points off of the bench.

Alabama State's defense held Bethune-Cookman to only 18.2 percent shooting from beyond the arc.

How It Happened

After falling behind 15-5, Alabama State went on a 5-0 run with 56 seconds left in the first quarter to narrow its deficit to 15-10, a score that would hold for the rest of the period.

The Hornets continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 31-20 halftime deficit.

Alabama State's deficit continued to grow after halftime, and the Hornets faced a 63-31 disadvantage heading to the fourth quarter. Alabama State's bench made the most of its minutes in the period, as non-starters totaled four of the team's 11 third-quarter points.

Alabama State could not pull any closer in the fourth, losing by a final of 84-43. Alabama State got a boost from its bench in the period, with non-starters scoring nine of its 12 total points.
