Madlock named Second Team All-SWAC

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Alabama State junior guard TJ Madlock was selected Second-Team All-Conference, announced by the conference office prior to the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Tournament on Tuesday.
 
Madlock leads Alabama State in scoring and has scored in double figures 27 times in 31 games this season including 15 conference games. The junior is averaging 15.9 points which is good for top 10 in the conference. He is also ranked in the top 15 in several different categories in the conference including steals defensive rebounding, field goal percentage, minutes played), free throw percentage, and rebounding. He is also ranked in the top 50 in free throws (26th) and free throw attempts (26th), while also ranking in the top 100 in steals (54th).
 
Madlock scored 20-plus points nine times on the season, including a career-high 30 against Prairie View A&M in a road victory. He also went to the free throw line 15 times in back-to-back games against Florida A&M and Bethune-Cookman. The junior has drawn a team-high 147 fouls, while also being named the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Player of the Week four times.
 
He was joined on the second team by Jakobi Heady (Bethune-Cookman), Kylen Milton (UAPB), Tidjiane Dioumassi (Southern), and Newcomer of the Year Rashad Williams (UAPB). The first team consists of Player of the Year Ken Evans (Jackson State), Jeremiah Kendall (Alcorn State), PJ Henry (Texas Southern), Zion Harmon (Bethune-Cookman), and Kintavious Dozier (Grambling State).
