HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | Alabama State connected on double-digit three-pointers, but it wasn't enough to overcome a balanced Alabama A&M attack in front of a capacity crowd, falling 58-53 to the Bulldogs at the Events Center in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) action on Saturday night.

Alabama State (12-17, 7-9 SWAC) connected on 10 three-pointers led by five from
Isaiah Range who finished with 17 points. He finished 5-of-9 from beyond the arc in the game and grabbed five rebounds. He was joined in double figures by
TJ Madlock with 14 points and four rebounds, while also recording five steals.

Alabama State finished the night shooting 26.7 (16-of-60) percent from the floor and 37.0 (10-of-27) percent from beyond the arc. They also shot 78.6 (11-of-14) percent from the free throw line. Meanwhile, Alabama A&M finished the night shooting 37.3 (19-of-51) percent from the floor and 21.4 (3-of-14) percent from beyond the arc. They also shot 70.8 (17-of-24) percent from the free throw line.

Cameron Tucker led three players in double figures for Alabama A&M (9-20, 8-8 SWAC) with 12 points, while Omari Peek added 11. Lorenzo Downey recorded a double-double for the Bulldogs with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

How It Happened
- Alabama State and Alabama A&M traded the lead 10 different times including right before halftime.
- The Hornets shot 32.3 (10-of-31) percent from the floor in the first half, including 50.0 (8-of-16) percent from beyond the arc. They also connected on both of their free throw attempts.
- Meanwhile, Alabama A&M shot 35.7 (10-of-28) percent from the floor and just 16.7 (1-of-6) percent from beyond the arc. They also shot 66.7 (8-of-12) percent from the free throw line.
- Alabama State struggled in the second half, finishing the final 20 minutes shooting 20.7 (6-of-29) percent from the floor and 18.2 (2-of-11) percent from beyond the arc. They also shot 75.0 (9-of-12) percent from the free throw line.
- The Bulldogs shot 39.1 (9-of-23) percent from the floor and 25.0 (2-of-8) percent from beyond the arc. They also shot 75.0 (9-of-12) percent from the free throw line, including big free throws down the stretch.
Alabama State Notes
- Micah Octave recorded a pair of steals, giving him a steal in 27 of the 29 games this year for the Hornets.
- Madlock scored in double figures for the 25th time this season, while Range scored in double figures for the 12th time.
- Range scored in double figures for the first time since February 10 against Grambling, a streak of five games.
- Alabama State finds itself in ninth place in the conference standings after Saturday night, one game back of Alabama A&M and UAPB. The Hornets will need one of their final two remaining games and get some help with either the Bulldogs or UAPB dropping their final two games. The Hornets hold the tiebreaker over each by point differential.
