Rodriguez Strikeouts 10 in Alabama State's 3-2 win over Alabama A&M

MONTGOMERY, Ala. --Senior Luis Rodriguez was mowing people down on Friday, punching out 10 Alabama A&M hitters over six innings of work to help lead the Alabama State Hornets over the Bulldogs 3-2.

In addition to his 10 strikeouts, Rodriguez (2-3) tossed six innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on three hits and walking six for Alabama State (9-10, ). Junior Caio Araujo also made an impact on the mound for the Hornets, throwing 1.1 scoreless innings while allowing one hit, with no walks and four strikeouts.

At the plate, the Hornets were paced by senior Randy Flores, who went 1-for-3 on the day with two RBI. Sophomore Devin Chandler compiled a standout performance as well, going 2-for-3 with a double. Sophomore Jamal George also helped out for Alabama State, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 2-0, the Hornets first put runs on the board in the fourth inning. Alabama State got an RBI single from senior Cristian Lopez, scoring senior Jack Hay from second base.

The Hornets kept the Bulldogs off the board before taking the lead in the sixth. Alabama State picked up two runs when a single from Flores scored George and Hay, which brought the score to 3-2 in favor of the Hornets. The score remained 3-2 for the rest of the game, as Alabama State held on for the win.
