MONTGOMERY, Ala. --Despite out-hitting Alabama A&M, Alabama State Univeristy was unable to push across more runs, as the Hornets fell to the Bulldogs 3-1 on Saturday.
Sophomore Jorhan Laboy (2-2) started and took the loss on the mound for Alabama State (9-11, ). The left-hander went six innings, giving up three runs, all of them earned, on four hits, allowing three walks and striking out seven. Sophomore Austin King was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going three shutout innings while allowing two hits, walking one and striking out four.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 3-0, the Hornets first put runs on the board in the eighth inning. Alabama State got an RBI single from sophomore Jamal George, scoring freshman Tyler McClanahan from third base. The Hornets were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
