Alabama State Baseballl Falls at Troy

TROY, Ala. | Four Alabama State University players recorded at least two hits, but the Hornets fell to Troy University 12-3 on Tuesday at Riddle-Pace Field.

Sophomore Austin King (0-2) came out of the bullpen for Alabama State (22-21) and took the loss. Freshman J. Martinez was a bright spot for the Hornets, coming out of the bullpen as well and throwing one scoreless inning, allowing no hits, with one walk and two strikeouts.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Hornets got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the top of the first inning. Alabama State got on the board thanks to freshman Juan Cruz's RBI double with two outs.

The Trojans then tied the ballgame at one before the Hornets came back to reclaim their advantage in the second inning. Alabama State scored once on an RBI single off the bat of senior Randy Flores, which brought the score to 2-1 in favor of the Hornets.

Alabama State's lead had disappeared once the eighth inning arrived and turned into a 7-2 Troy advantage, when the Hornets cut that deficit to 7-3. The Hornets scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Cruz. The Hornets were unable to get any closer, as Troy added five runs to their tally on the way to a 12-3 final.
