Alabama State Baseball Drops Series Opener To Florida A&M

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. | Alabama State University baseball got a strong performance from senior Randy Flores, who collected two extra base hits in a 10-2 loss to the Florida A&M Rattlers Friday.

Junior Jose Almazan (2-4) got the ball to start for Alabama State (13-14, 5-4) and took the loss. Freshman Juan Berrios was a bright spot for the Hornets, coming out of the bullpen and throwing 1.2 scoreless innings, allowing no hits, with one walk and one strikeout.

Flores' two extra base hits were the highlight of a 2-for-5 day, and included two doubles. Sophomore Devin Chandler compiled a standout performance at the plate as well, going 1-for-2 with a double and two walks. Senior Jack Hay also helped out for the Hornets, putting together two hits in four trips to the plate while adding an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Hornets got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning. Hay's run-scoring single highlighted a two-run inning for Alabama State. The Hornets were unable to hold the lead, as Florida A&M scored 10 times over the remaining eight innings to grab the 10-2 win.
