MIAMI GARDENS, Florida -- Alabama State put together a huge 203-yard performance on the ground, including 134 yards and two rushing touchdowns from quarterback Andrew Body, but fell 31-24 to North Carolina Central Sunday afternoon at home at Hard Rock Stadium.
The Eagles improved to 1-0 on the season while the Hornets dropped to 0-1.
Marcus Harris II also added 28 yards on the ground, averaging four yards per carry.
Eric Horn reeled in one catch for 45 yards.
Rico Dozier paced the Alabama State defensive effort, totaling six tackles, one tackle for loss, and one sack. Stefon Young-Rolle added four tackles, one tackle for loss, and one sack.
ASU's defense held up against North Carolina Central's offense, allowing 270 total yards.
How It Happened
ASU responded after opening the game with a 21-0 deficit. The Hornets responded with a field goal after NCCU increased its lead to 24-14 to make it a 24-17 game.
After NCCU increased its lead to 31-17, ASU got on the scoreboard again with 3:24 left in the fourth quarter to narrow the advantage and make it a 31-24 game. Neither team scored again.
