HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The Alabama State cross country program delivered one of its most complete team performances of the season at the UAH Chargers Invitational on Saturday, highlighted by a string of personal bests from both the men's and women's squads at John Hunt Cross Country Park.
The women's team continued its momentum, with six athletes setting either personal or season-best times, led by a dominant effort from
Aliyah Williams, who placed 22nd overall with a personal record time of 22:06.54.
Fellow senior
Ann Badawi was right on her heels, finishing 23rd with another personal record of 22:07.00, securing a strong one-two finish for the Lady Hornets in the top 25.
Senior
Teresa Gallegos followed with a personal record of 23:12.79, while junior Shone Walter continued her upward trajectory, crossing the line in 23:41.80 — also a career best. Sophomore
Angelique Degboe (24:57.71) posted a season best, and
Alisha Boyer (26:03.56), along with senior
Taisha Benjamin (26:15.16) rounded out the scoring with additional personal and season-best efforts.
On the men's side, junior
Jon Coulter led the way for Alabama State with a season-best 27:21.20 in the 8,000-meter race. Junior Ainsley Campbell (28:25.90) and sophomore Lord Odonkor (30:49.10) both recorded personal bests, while freshman Jordan Saunders gained valuable experience in his first UAH Invitational appearance.
The Hornets turn their attention towards the SWAC Championships on Oct. 20 in Tallahassee, Fla.
