Oxford, Ala. – The Alabama State men's and women's cross country teams turned in strong performances at the JSU Foothills Invitational, with multiple student-athletes posting personal and season bests in the 5,000-meter races.
On the women's side, the Hornets were led by senior Aliyah Williams, who clocked a personal-best 18:25.28, finishing 17th overall and earning 16 points. Fellow senior Ann Badawi was close behind, crossing in 18:25.51 for 18th place and 17 points. Senior Teresa Gallegos also ran a career-best, finishing 28th in 19:04.26. Junior Shone Walter (19:44.94), sophomore Alisha Boyer (21:01.79), and senior Taisha Benjamin (22:44.38) rounded out the women's lineup, each securing key scoring points for the Hornets.
For the men, junior Jon Coulter set the pace, running 17:20.20 to finish 76th overall with 60 points. Classmate Jasiah Clapp followed in 18:02.23, while fellow junior Ainsley Campbell (18:13.25) and sophomore Lord Odonkor (18:43.10) added depth to the Hornets' effort. Freshman Jordan Saunders gained valuable experience in his first collegiate 5K, finishing in 21:10.43.
