Grambling, La. – Alabama State closed its regular season with a tough 5–0 loss on the road to Grambling State on Sunday afternoon at the GSU Soccer Complex.
The Lady Hornets (2–15–1, 1–6 SWAC) were unable to slow down the Lady Tigers' high-powered offense, which struck three times in the first half and added two more after the break.
Grambling (7–6–5, 4–0–3 SWAC) opened the scoring early netting its first goal in the eighth minute and adding two more before the halftime break. GSU was able to add two more in the second half to finish the scoring.
Senior goalkeeper Corrine Brookes made six saves before giving way to Kailyn Roselli, who stopped one shot in relief. Offensively, McKinley Hacker and Queenster Mensah each recorded two shots on target for Alabama State.
The Hornets will end the regular season at Alabama A&M on Friday, Oct. 31 at 1 p.m.
