TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Alabama State women's cross country team delivered another standout performance at the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Championships, placing four runners inside the top 10 and continuing the program's tradition of excellence under head coach Ritchie Beene, who was named SWAC Coach of the Year.
Leading the way for the Lady Hornets was Aliyah Williams, who finished second overall to earn First Team All-SWAC honors. Ann Badawi followed closely in third place, also securing First Team All-SWAC recognition. Shone Walters capped off the top-10 finishers with a ninth-place showing, earning Second Team All-SWAC honors.
Adding to the team's depth, Teresa Gallegos placed 10th overall, playing a pivotal role in Alabama State's scoring effort. Although she narrowly missed official All-SWAC status due to conference scoring procedures, her performance was vital to the Lady Hornets' overall success.
Beene's honor as SWAC Coach of the Year adds to an already remarkable legacy, marking his 62nd conference championship across cross country and track and field.
The Lady Hornets' performance in Tallahassee showcased the depth, determination, and championship mentality that define Alabama State's cross country program.
