Orlando, FL – A competitive field of athletes delivered standout performances at the Black and Gold Invite, with several personal bests and record-breaking efforts setting the tone for the season. Held under ideal conditions, the meet featured top-tier competition across sprints, hurdles, distance events, and field events.
In the jumps, Seth Stockton showcased his dominance in the triple jump, setting a school record with a mark of 15.34m. He also registered a personal best in the long jump with 7.16m, while Kevin Wood followed closely, landing at 7.07m.
The distance races saw strong showings from Aliyah Williams, who clocked 4:37.28 in the 1500m, and Ann Badawi, who posted times of 2:12.90 in the 800m and 4:40.86 in the 1500m. Angelique Debgoe (4:58.21) and Alisha Boyer (4:59.01) also put in solid efforts in the 1500m, demonstrating the depth of talent in the distance events.
In the sprints, Nickory Richards led the way in the 200m, posting an impressive time of 21.14 seconds. Chad Gaffney (21.58 seconds) and Khabeeba Mills (22.04 seconds) added strong finishes in the same event. Kirsten Isaac clocked 12.60 seconds in the 100m, while Taliah Wickett dominated the 400m with a time of 55.25 seconds.
The hurdles and jumps saw equally strong performances. Demarco Thompson finished the 110m hurdles in 14.60 seconds, while Brayden Irhuegbae soared to 2.06m in the high jump, marking one of the top performances of the meet.
In the 800m, Rhamon Dancy posted a solid time of 2:00.15. The Hornets will compete in the UAB Spring Invite on March 28-29.
