ASU’s Johnson Earns SWAC Defensive POTW Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Alabama State University linebacker Denzel Johnson was named the Southwestern Athletic Conference's Defensive Player of the Week by the league office on Monday, Nov. 3, 2025.

Johnson had 11 total tackles, seven solo stops, a tackle for loss, and one interception.

The Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., product intercepted a pass on Prairie View A&M's final drive of the first half to keep the score tied 21-21 at halftime. He followed that up with a five-yard tackle for loss to force PV into a 53-yard game-tying field goal attempt that missed on the final drive of the game.
