MONTGOMERY, Ala. – November 9, 2025 – Alabama State wrapped up its home conference slate in dominant fashion Sunday afternoon, sweeping Mississippi Valley State 3-0 (25-11, 25-14, 25-20) inside Lockhart Gymnasium. The win improves the Lady Hornets to 11-15 overall and 10-4 in SWAC play, while the Devilettes fall to 4-17 and 1-12.
The Hornets came out strong, hitting .312 in the opening set and cruising to a 25-11 win behind an efficient attack led by Zanobia Willis and Madisynne McQueen, who combined for seven early kills. Alabama State carried that momentum into the second set, opening on a 5-0 run and hitting an impressive .423 to take control.
In the third set, Mississippi Valley State kept things close early before Alabama State pulled away late behind the clutch plays for Jyriah Morgan and Kaylen Hines, sealing the 25-20 win.
It was a well paced offense as Willis led the way with nine kills while hitting .500. Essence Jones and Morgan added eight kills each, while McQueen finished with six. Brooke Adams anchored the back line of defense with 17 digs.
The Hornets finished the match with 33 assists as Kamrynn Clay led the way with 16 and Sierra Scanlan added 14. ASU finished with eight blocks as Camille Holloway, Willis and Hines finished with two each.
Before the match, five senior Hornets were honored which were, Jyriah Morgan, Sierra Scanlan, Madisynne McQueen, Brooke Adams and Zanobia Willis.
The Hornets will end the regular season on the road with matches at Southern (Nov. 14) and at Alcorn State (Nov. 16).
