MONTGOMERY, Ala. | The Alabama State Hornets took a 2-1 lead into the eighth inning, but fell 4-2 to the Florida A&M University on Friday at the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex.
Junior Jorhan Laboy (2-2) started and took the loss on the mound for Alabama State (9-14, ). The left-hander went eight innings, giving up four runs, all of them earned, on five hits, allowing three walks and striking out seven.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 1-0, the Hornets first put runs on the board in the second inning. Alabama State got an RBI single from sophomore Isaiah Landry, scoring junior Kameron Douglas from second base.
The game remained tied until the fourth inning, when the Hornets got going again on offense. Alabama State scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Landry, which brought the Hornets lead to 2-1. The Hornets were unable to hold the lead, as Florida A&M scored three times over the remaining five innings to grab the 4-2 win.
