Alabama State drops 10-7 decision to Georgia State

ATLANTA, Ga. | Alabama State University baseball got contributions from every part of their lineup, as all nine starters reached base, but the Hornets fell to the Georgia State Panthers 10-7 on Tuesday.

Junior W. Bartkoski (0-1) took the loss on the mound for Alabama State (10-16). Senior Will Larson was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going two shutout innings while allowing one hit, walking one and striking out one.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Hornets got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning. Alabama State plated two runs off of Georgia State pitching, one of which was driven in on a run-scoring double off the bat of senior D. Smiley.

The Hornets lost the lead they built in the first, but got back on the board in the third trailing 5-2. Alabama State scored twice on freshman A.Espaillat's two-run homer, which brought the score to 5-4 in favor of the Panthers.

Alabama State held the Panthers off the board before rallying to even it up at five in the fifth. The Hornets picked up a run when junior Parmentier drew a walk from junior Carlos Carmona that scored A.Espaillat.

The Panthers broke up the tie and grabbed the lead heading into the seventh inning, when Alabama State got back on the scoreboard. The Hornets scored two runs in the frame, the big hit being an RBI double from Parmentier, evening the score at 7-7.
