Alabama State Qualifies as No. 5 seed in SWAC tourney

BIRMINGHAM, Ala – The Alabama State men's basketball qualified as the No. 5 seed in the 2025 Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament, which is slated to begin Tuesday at the Gateway Center Arena in Atlanta.

The Hornets will match-up with No. 4 seed Texas Southern on Thursday at 2 p.m. (1 p.m. Montgomery time).

TSU defeated ASU 80-69 in the lone match-up between the two teams.

The Hornets (16-15, 12-6 SWAC) are coming in as the hottest team in the conference, winning seven of its past eight games and winners of three in a row. ASU swept Southern, who won the SWAC regular season championship.
