MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State University baseball had four players with multiple hits to rally past Jackson State University 6-3 on Friday at the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex.
Junior Jorhan Laboy (5-2) started on the mound and picked up the win for Alabama State (17-18, ). The southpaw went 6.2 innings, giving up three runs, one earned, on seven hits, allowing one walk and striking out five. Sophomore Jafet Martinez also made an impact on the mound for the Hornets, throwing 2.1 shutout innings while allowing no hits, with no walks and three strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hornets were trailing 3-0 in the fourth inning when they first put runs on the board. Alabama State's offense started clicking and put up four runs, including a two-run single off the bat of senior Kyler McIntosh.
The Tigers failed to push any runs across before the Hornets built on their lead in the seventh inning. Alabama State brought home a pair, with one run driven in by freshman Alex Espaillat's single, which brought the score to 6-3 in favor of the Hornets.
