ITTA BENA, Miss. | Alabama State University used a two-run ninth inning to break a 6-6 tie and capture an 8-7 victory over the Mississippi Valley State on Thursday at Magnolia Field.
Sophomore Jafet Martinez (5-3) got the win out of the bullpen for Alabama State (10-16, ). The right-hander went two innings, giving up three runs, two earned, on four hits. Junior Will Bartkoski also pitched well, going one shutout inning without allowing a hit.
Offensively, the Hornets were led by junior Kameron Douglas, who went 3-for-5 on the day with a double and two RBI. Sophomore Juan Cruz put together a noteworthy performance at the dish as well, going 3-for-4 with a double, a walk and an RBI. Junior Luke Parmentier also helped out for Alabama State, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding a home run, a walk and an RBI.

The Hornets scored in six different innings on the way to victory. Alabama State broke a 6-6 tie and took the lead for good at 7-6 in the ninth inning Junior Kelvin Agosto's run-scoring single highlighted the two-run frame for the Hornets.
