ASU Soccer Falls Late at South Carolina State

Alabama State women's soccer dropped a tough road contest Friday night, falling 1–0 to South Carolina State at Oliver C. Dawson Stadium in Orangeburg, S.C.

The Lady Hornets (0-1-1) controlled much of the first half, outshooting the Lady Bulldogs 4–0 and earning four corner kicks. Despite chances from Adriana Gallucci, Maija Tate, and Erica Mathews, South Carolina State goalkeeper Jada Gittings stood strong, making two key saves to keep the match scoreless at halftime.

In the second half, momentum swung toward the Lady Bulldogs (1-1-0). South Carolina State managed three shots after the break, including the match-winner in the 87th minute when Kayla Moses buried an unassisted strike for her second goal of the season.

Alabama State finished with four total shots, two on target, while South Carolina State tallied three shots, two on frame. The Hornets also led in corner kicks (5–2) and possession in the first half, but couldn't generate chances after halftime.

Goalkeeper Kailyn Roselli played all 90 minutes for ASU, recording one save, while Gittings earned the shutout for SCSU with two saves.

The Hornets return to action looking for their first win of the season, at Presbyterian on Sunday, August 24 at 1 p.m. CT.
