BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) announced Wednesday that Alabama State University senior outside hitter Jyriah Morgan has been named the SWAC Offensive Player of the Week and junior libero Trinity Mitchell as the SWAC Defensive Player of the Week.
Morgan, who has received the honor for the second consecutive week, finished last week's action at the Georgia Classic with 38 kills, including a team and match-high 19 against Texas Tech. She also added three digs and had 12 total blocks. On the season, the Pleasant Grove, Ala., native leads the SWAC with 77 kills and her 3.85 kills per set is also the conference leader.
Mitchell had 31 digs over the weekend, including 14 against Texas Tech. She also contributed with eight assists and two service aces. She heads into this weekend's action 10th in the conference in digs with 41, while averaging 2.56 digs per set.
