ASU Soccer Falls at Kennesaw State

KENNESAW, Ga. – Alabama State dropped its road contest at Kennesaw State on Wednesday evening, falling 7-1 at Fifth Third Stadium.

The Owls struck early, taking a 2-0 lead in the first half behind goals from Rebecca Womer in the 7th minute and Ava Bradford in the 21st. Despite several key saves from goalkeeper Corrine Brookes, KSU kept up the pressure with 18 first-half shots.

After halftime, the Owls extended their lead with goals from Sydni Whitehead and Aly Bryan just minutes apart. Alabama State answered quickly in the 56th minute when Emmanuella Yapi finished an unassisted strike for her second goal of the season, cutting the deficit to 4-1.

Kennesaw State pulled away in the final 25 minutes, adding goals from Womer, Caroline Shaw, and Raelyn Prince to secure the 7-1 victory.

Brookes tallied seven saves in over 81 minutes of action, while the Lady Hornets (0-9-1) recorded nine shots, including five on goal. Savannah Singleton, Serenity Safeeullah, and Queenster Mensah each challenged the KSU keeper with shots on target.

The Hornets return to action Sunday, Sept. 21, when they will host AUM at 1 p.m.
