MONTGOMERY, Ala. --The Alabama State University baseball team had its struggles against Valparaiso staring pitcher Connor Lockwood as the Hornets fell 9-0 on Saturday.
At the plate, the Hornets managed just three hits with Miguel Oropeza, Fabian Santana and Devin Chandler collecting hit.
Lockwood tossed a complete game three-hit shutout and record 11 strikeouts against one walk to improve to 2-0 for Valpo.
Esaid Pena had a no hitter into the fourth inning before allowing four runs. Pena (2-1) had eight strikeouts agianst one talk while giving up four runs, three earned.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Alabama State did not advance a runner past second base in the game. The Hornets went 0-for-2 with runners in scoring position, last placing a runner as far as second in the ninth, when A. Malpass made it into scoring position with one out.
