Alabama State falls to Florida A&M

TALLAHASEE, Fla. | The Alabama State University baseball team fell to Florida A&M University, 7-2, on Sunday.

Trey Power (3-3) got the ball to start for Alabama State (13-13, 3-6) and took the loss. Zane Baltz was a bright spot for the Hornets, coming out of the bullpen and throwing one scoreless inning, allowing no hits, with no walks and two strikeouts.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Hornets were trailing 4-0 in the third inning when they first put runs on the board. Niguel Jenkins came across to score the lone run of the inning for Alabama State and get them on the board.

The Hornets' deficit expanded to 7-1 before their offense got back on the scoreboard, cutting into that deficit in the ninth inning. Alabama State scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Jenkins, which brought the score to 7-2 in favor of the Rattlers. The ballgame ended with that ninth-inning rally falling short.

GAME NOTES
» Alabama State's highest scoring inning was the ninth, when it pushed one run across.
» Alabama State pitchers faced 36 Florida A&M hitters in the game, allowing five ground balls and eight fly balls while striking out nine.

» Florida A&M was led offensively by Jay Campbell, who went 3 for 4 with a triple and four RBI.
