BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Alabama State women's golf standout Carmen Fletcher captured the 2026 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Women's Golf Individual Championship on Wednesday, defeating Prairie View A&M's Kacey Menyoli on the first hole of a sudden-death playoff following three rounds of stroke play at the RTJ Golf Trail at Oxmoor Valley (Ridge Course).
Fletcher finished the championship tied atop the leaderboard at 232 (+16) after rounds of 80-78-74, then secured the title in the playoff to become the ninth Lady Hornet in program history to win a SWAC individual crown.
As a team, Alabama State University posted a third-place finish with a three-round total of 972 (+108), recording rounds of 332-323-317 to close the tournament among the conference's top contenders.
