MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama State University women's soccer team played host to the Kennesaw State Owls on Sunday afternoon, falling in a 5-0 contest in a non-conference meeting at ASU Soccer Complex.
The Hornets (0-4 overall) struggled against its Conference USA foe, as the Owls (2-2) got started immediately with a third-minute goal and followed shortly thereafter with another tally within ten minutes, all of which left the home team racing for an edge throughout the game. Three more second half goals closed out the scoring to bring the visitors back up to a .500 record.

Sophomore midfielder
Adriana Gallucci was the most impactful offensive player in the stat sheets on the afternoon, attempting three shots while putting a strike on the top right of the frame in the 34th minute, only to be saved by the Owls' keeper. The only other ASU shot came off the boot of
Addison Johnson, another on-target shot saved in the 71st minute.
Kennesaw State led the game in shots (15-2) and on-target attempts (8-2) while collecting a pair of yellow cards, while Alabama State led the save count, 3-2, with
Deetya Satyal pulling in all three attempts in her 53 minutes of action.
Satyal took the loss on the afternoon, in which she was relieved in the 53rd minute by
Valentina Espinel. KSU starter Charlee Bernal had a save in her winning performance, leaving the field for Sarah Hill nearly two-thirds of the way through.
The Hornets will look to bounce back as it opens a four-game, non-conference road trip with a pair of games in Arkansas against Central Arkansas (Thursday, Aug. 27 at 7 p.m.) and Arkansas State (Sunday, Aug. 30 at 1 p.m.). Its next contest at ASU Soccer Complex will be in the Southwest Athletic Conference opener against Alcorn State on Sunday, Sept. 27, at 1 p.m.
