NORMAN, Okla. – The Alabama State University men's golf team earned academic recognition from the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA), with the organization naming them a recipient of the President's Special Recognition, as announced Wednesday.
The GCAA's President's Special Recognition was bestowed upon 88 Division I men's golf programs after the 2025-26 season, honoring teams for achieving a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher. Of the GCAA-record 331 schools recognized with a PLATFORM Golf Team Academic Award, 155 schools across six divisions earned at least a 3.5 GPA last season.
Fellow HBCU Maryland-Eastern Shore led all Division I and HBCU programs with a 3.943 GPA, while Virginia State, an HBCU at the Division II level, led all DII schools with a 3.832 GPA.
The ASU men's golf team returns to the links on August 30 to begin the 2026-27 season at Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Ga., after finishing fifth overall at the Southwestern Athletic Conference Championship Tournament this past April.
