BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) released its Preseason All-Conference Teams ahead of the 2026 Women's Soccer season, and forward Serenity Safeeullah of the Alabama State University women's soccer team was recognized as a Second Team All-Conference forward, the league announced Friday afternoon.

The sophomore forward saw the field in 17 of the team's 20 games in her rookie season, starting each of the last five and 13 overall. Her rookie campaign got off to a strong start with a goal in her first outing against Mobile on August 14, and she would continue her aggressive attack as she averaged three shots per game for five straight games in SWAC play.

Safeeullah closed out the 2025 season with two goals in the final four games, including the game winning tally in a 2-1 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on October 24.

The Nashville, Tenn., native finished her rookie season with a team-leading three goals, scoring on a third of her nine total shots on target. Her 1.65 average shots per game was tied for eighth in the SWAC a season ago, a number she improved to 2.2 shots per game against SWAC opponents.

While Safeeullah is only in her second year in the River Region, she is one of nine returning student-athletes for second-year head coach Alicia Wilson. With the success the sophomore had a season ago, Wilson will likely lean on Safeeullah to take a player leadership role with nine first year players and another seven incoming transfers as they look to improve as a squad.
 
Safeeullah and the Hornets will take the pitch for the first time in the 2026 season in a pair of scrimmages against Southern Union (Sun., Aug. 9 at 1 p.m.) and Mobile (Mon., Aug. 10 at 1 p.m.). It opens up the regular season with a Thursday night game against Southern Mississippi, with kickoff time set for 6 p.m. on Aug. 13 at ASU Soccer Complex.
