SAVANNAH, Ga. -- The Alabama State University Lady Hornets defeated Savannah State 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-14) Tuesday night in Willcox Wiley Gymnasium.
Junior Sierra Caudle led Alabama State (9-17, 1-2) with 10 kills, one service ace, three blocks and two digs.
Alabama State finished the match leading the Tigers in kills (36), attack percentage (.250), assists (31) and digs (37).
ASU players Jessica Holt and Kelsye Hall amassed six kills each. Holt also tallied seven blocks in the win.
Senior Anna Meinert added five of ASU's kills, one service ace and 24 assists. Meinert is ranked first in the Southwestern Athletic Conference in service aces and eighth in assists.
Chikia Jones led Savannah State with seven kills, followed by Whitney Bullock with six kills and six digs.
ASU will return to action Saturday at 6 p.m. at home in divisional play against Jackson State. Game time is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, ASU will host cross-state rival Alabama A&M in the final home game of the season. The match is set for 7 p.m. in Lockhart Gymnasium. The Lady Hornets will bid a farewell to seniors Meinert, Holt and Nina Saunders.
