MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- A tenacious Alabama State University volleyball team (9-18, 1-3 Southwestern Conference) was unable to overcome Jackson State (12-15, 2-1 SWAC), falling in three sets (25-12, 25-17, 25-21) Saturday at Lockhart Gymnasium.
Senior Jessica Holt and junior Sierra Caudle stood out offensively for the Lady Hornets, tallying 7 kills each. Holt averaged .235 kills per game, while Caudle averaged .174 kills per game. She also had five digs.
Anna Meinert, Kelsye Hall and Althea Russell added four kills to the Lady Hornets statistics. Meinert also had 18 assists, nine digs and a service ace.
Defensively, Roselande Corneille and Deirdra Byner added six digs each.
The Lady Hornets will try to return to the win column Friday night when they travel to Alcorn, Miss. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
