ITTA BENA, Miss. – Alabama State University's Hornets lost a doubleheader Friday to Alcorn State at Alcorn State Stadium.
The Braves won the first game 15-1, jumping on top 2-0 in the first inning and then scoing four runs in each of the next two innings. Drew Quinney pitched five innings for the Hornets until a foul ball hit him in the foot while batting.
Alcorn State was led by Jo Brumfield, who was 3-for-4, and Adrian Bowens, who was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and three RBI.
In the second game, the Braves grabbed a 5-0 lead in the first inning en route to a 10-1 victory. The Hornets were led by freshman Cameron Webman, who got a hit in his only at bat.
The Braves were led by Jabare Graham, who was 2-for-3, and Bowens, who was 2-for-2.
The four-game series continues on Saturday with the first pitch is set for one at Alcorn State Stadium.
