ASU SOCCER LOSES A HEARBREAKER AT HOME

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama State University Soccer team battled Mississippi Valley State tooth and nail tonight from Hornet Stadium. Playing in cool weather, the heated contest ended with a final of 1-0 in favor of The Develettes.

The first and only goal came from Mississippi Valley's Kristin Swanson at the 54:33 mark of the second period.  She was assisted by Alexandria Neumann.  ASU goalie Chelsea Nash had a game high eight saves on the night.  Monique Sylvester had two shot attempts for The Lady Hornets.  Danielle Miller, Shelby Bertolini, Lenna Lamas, and Alexandria Ayers each had one attempt apiece.

ASU Soccer closes out the 2010 regular season Sunday which is also Senior Day.  “You always want your seniors to go out on a positive note”. Head coach Jodie Smith said.  “This is also a huge match in terms of seeding for the SWAC Tournament.

The Lady Hornets will host Alcorn State Sunday afternoon at 1 pm.  Admission is free
